The search for the Research Associate positions (2012-2014) is now live. The closing date is December 7.

Frank Siegert, who finished his PhD thesis at the IPPP in 2010, has won the annual IoP price for the best PhD thesis in Computational Physics.  The award has monetary value of £250.  Frank is now a postdoc at Freiburg University in Germany.

2011-12 Associateships were awarded to individuals or small teams to support their research programme and particle physics phenomenology research in the UK.

The Institute for Particle Physics Phenomenology (IPPP) is inviting applications from UK-based academic permanent staff to hold an IPPP Associateship from 1 October 2011. Each Associateship will have a value of £4000 per annum and is funded by Durham University, through the IPPP. The aim of this programme is to support particle physics phenomenology research

IPPP Open Presentations on Beyond the Standard Model Physics was followed by the Steering Committee Meeting on May 5th in the Ogden building at IPPP.

We are pleased to announce that Sebastian Franco and Michael Spannowsky accepted our offers of lecturer p[ositions and will be joining the Institute in September 2011.

Presentations from the shortlisted candidates for the three Lecturer/Reader positions will be held on Wednesday 9th of February in the Lindisfarne Centre at St Aidans College between 9 am and 4pm.

This years YETI school, YETI ’11, is the ninth in this series and it is titled “The Standard Model at the Energy Frontier”.  Lectures on hot topics in LHC physics and practical hands-on sessions form the programme of this school.

The Stirling Lecture for 2010 is to be given by Graham Farmelo. The lecture is entitled “Paul Dirac and the religion of mathematical beauty” and will be given in Calman Learning Centre 202, Science Laboratories on Thursday 9th December at 5.15pm.
