Buildings

Grey College is situated on South Road very close to the Physics Department (number 8 on the University map). It is a 25 minute walk from the railway station. Car parking space is available.

Collingwood College is situated on South Road 8 minutes from the Physics Department (number 6 on the University map). It is a 30 minute walk from the railway station. Car parking space is available.

St Mary’s College is situated on South Road very close to the Physics Department (number 10 on the University map). It is a 20 minute walk from the railway station. Car parking space is available.

University College is situated on Palace Green, beside the Cathedral and accessed by a narrow road leading from the Market Place (number 24 on the University map). There is only very limited parking available on Palace Green and so those who come by car should be prepared to park some distance away.

Ushaw College is located four miles west of Durham City in beautiful open countryside. Access by public transport is limited, and it is best to take a taxi. There is plenty of parking space available at the College.

By Car

Durham is about 30 min. by car south of Newcastle upon Tyne. Find the A1 and leave it at exit Durham.

By Bus

There are bus connections to Durham or Newcastle from most major cities in England.

By Rail

The Intercity East-Coast line links Durham with London King’s Cross and Edinburgh. Most Intercity trains stop in Durham. Otherwise go to Newcastle Central Station and take a local train to Durham (one-way costs 4.30 GBP) or taxi (about 35 GBP).
