Associateships and Senior Experimental Fellowships

July 25, 2018

Application for the next round of IPPP Associateships and Senior Experimental Fellowships is open. The deadline is 31st August 2018
2018-2019 Senior Experimental Fellows
These are awarded to small teams led by senior UK experimentalists and involving more junior researchers (postdocs and students) to support participation of UK experimentalists in the IPPP Phenomenology Network. The Fellowships are for one calendar year with a possibility of extension for another year. Starting date 1 January 2019.
The Senior Experimental Fellowships are funded by IPPP, and are intended to cover travel and local expenses to support visits of the team to Durham. The goal of the Fellowships is to support IPPP engagement with UK experimentalists, to stimulate their participation in the IPPP UK phenomenology network by strengthening research links, and to create new initiatives between the experimental and theoretical communities in the UK.
Applications for Senior Experimental Fellowships are invited from leaders of the teams and should contain a brief description of proposed activities, a programme of visits to Durham by team members, and proposals for engagement with the IPPP UK phenomenology network activities. These activities can include (but are not limited to) involvement in Topical IPPP Annual Research Programmes. Applicants are invited to send a two page proposal electronically to IPPP Director (keith.ellis@durham.ac.uk) with a copy to the IPPP Secretary Linda Grieve (linda.grieve@durham.ac.uk)
The deadline for applications is 31 August 2018.
IPPP Associates 2018-2019
As part of the IPPP UK phenomenology network activities, IPPP invites applications from UK-based permanent academic staff for IPPP Associateships. Associateships are awarded to individuals or small teams, and are funded by the IPPP.
Associates are selected on the basis of scientific excellence of their proposal bearing in mind the need to balance activity in different areas of phenomenological research including beyond the standard model physics, electroweak and Higgs physics, flavour physics, model building, Monte Carlo simulations, neutrino physics, particle astrophysics and strong interactions. Applications are welcomed from both theorists and experimentalists.
The main objectives of the Associateship Programme are:
to enhance interactions and enable new collaborations between the Associate, the Associate’s Institution and the IPPP
to support research visits (typically of a week each time) of the Associate or their students to IPPP and of IPPP staff/PDRA/students to the Associate’s institution
We expect that up to 6 Associateships will be awarded in 2018-2019 starting October 2018, and each Associateship will have a value of up to £3000 per annum.
Applicants should send a one page (PDF format) proposal electronically to the IPPP Director Keith Ellis with a copy to Linda Grieve
by 31st August 2018. The proposal should outline the proposed research programme and briefly describe how the funds will be used
to enhance the research of the Associate,
to increase collaboration with the IPPP
Applications will be reviewed by the IPPP Steering Committee. The deadline for applications is 31 August 2018.
