Postdoctoral Research Assistant - ATLAS

Particle Physics, Denys Wilkinson Building, Keble Road, Oxford, OX1 3RH.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Particle Physics.

The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 3 years, with a possibility of renewal.

This project will focus on the exploration of the Higgs sector at the ATLAS experiment using the upcoming LHC Run 3 data. The
postholder will be joining one of the largest and most prominent groups on the ATLAS experiment. We also play a major role in
the construction of the new silicon tracker (ITK) for the HL-LHC.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in one or more of the Higgs analyses in which the Oxford group is focussed.
They will participate in the supervision of graduate students and contribute significantly to the agreed ATLAS maintenance and
operation.

Applicants should hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in physics or a related field, and ideally have a strong background in data analysis. Previous experience in Higgs Physics will be an advantage, but is not required. Previous experience with muon ID, b-tagging, or the development of silicon detectors will also be an advantage.

Candidates are expected to be confident in programming in C++ and demonstrate excellent communication skills. Candidates should be self-motivated, able to motivate and guide the work of others, able to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team, and should demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills.

The post will be based in Geneva, Switzerland or in Oxford according to the preference of the successful candidate. When based
in Oxford, teaching duties of up to 3 hours per week during University term may be required.
