Appointment Term: 3 years

The Simons Foundation has generously provided funding for the appointment of a Postdoctoral Fellow in Mathematical Physics for three years. The successful candidate will take up the post before the start of the 2010/11 academic year and will work within the Mathematical Physics Group, headed by Professor Philip Candelas, in the Mathematical Institute at the University of Oxford. It is intended that the post-holder should be elected to a Research Fellowship at Green Templeton College.

The Simons Postdoctoral Fellow will undertake teaching and research and will already have made a substantial contribution to the field of study and demonstrate outstanding ability and potential. They will also have expertise in some aspect of mathematical physics and be able to demonstrate excellence in independent research. The goal of the Simons Foundation's Fellows Program is to provide the best possible postdoctoral training to a group of the strongest graduating PhDs. The fellowships are therefore restricted to candidates who receive their PhD in the academic year immediately preceding that in which they would become Simons Postdoctoral Fellow.
