Description:

Are you interested in dark energy, dark matter, modified theories of gravity, quantum field theory, or extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics?

If so, you are invited to apply for the above two-year fixed-term postdoctoral position. This post is associated to the project “Quantum field theories of the dark universe”, which is focussed on the theory, phenomenology and experimental/observational tests of models of dark matter and dark energy. This project is funded by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship and a Nottingham Research Fellowship, held jointly by Peter Millington. The nominal start date is 1 October 2022.

Applicants with any of the above interests will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with proven track records in applying the functional renormalization group, or in model comparison and parameter estimation.

If successful, you will become an integral part of a large and diverse team of researchers from the Particle Cosmology Group in the School of Physics and Astronomy, and the newly established Nottingham Centre for Gravity, hosted by the Schools of Physics and Astronomy, and Mathematical Sciences. Members of these groups include: Anastasios Avgoustidis, John Barrett, Clare Burrage, Ed Copeland, Anne Green, Kirill Krasnov, Jorma Louko, Peter Millington, Adam Moss, Antonio Padilla, Paul Saffin, Thomas Sotiriou and Silke Weinfurtner.

You will need to have completed or be near to completing a PhD in physics or a related subject, and have a track record of publications, seminar talks and conference contributions appropriate to your career stage.

Applications should be submitted online via this link (copied below). You should provide: (1) a curriculum vitae, (2) a list of publications (including preprints) and (3) a statement of research interests, detailing your track record and future research plans.

Applicants are invited to provide their CVs in the format of either a traditional research CV or a structured narrative document, such as the Royal Society's Resume for Researchers.

This is a full-time (36.25 hours), fixed-term position to 30th September 2024. Job share arrangements would be considered.
