Deadline: December 10th, 2024
Description:
The Theoretical Physics group at the University of Liverpool invites applications for PhD studentships, starting 1 September 2016 or soon thereafter. We have at least 2 STFC funded studentships, which are available to students resident in the UK/EU and can cover tuition fees and a maintenance grant for 3.5 years. Additionally the department of mathematical sciences has Graduate Teaching Assistant PhD Studentships. These grants are open to applicant of all nationality. They cover the tuition fee at the EU rate and a maintenance grant for 3.5 years. Overseas candidates would have to provide the difference between the UK/EU and the overseas student rates, for the university fees, from some other source, such as a scholarship or personal funds.
The Theoretical Physics group provides an internationally leading research and training environment for PhD students in the fields of particle physics phenomenology, multi-loop calculations, quantum field theory, lattice gauge theory, black holes and string theory. For more information on the group, see

Background of applicants:
Prior background in theoretical particle physics would be an advantage.
The successful candidates should have or expect to have at least a 2.1 degree or equivalent in Physics and/or Mathematics.
How to apply:
You can apply online, see
https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/mathematical-sciences/postgraduate/phd-research/
Informal inquiries can be addressed to:
Dr Martin Gorbahn (email: martin.gorbahn@liverpool.ac.uk).
Deadlines:
For the Graduate Teaching Assistant PhD Studentships there is a deadline is 29 January 2016. Applications for the STFC positions will be considered until the positions are filled, however we encourage applications before 29 January.
