All services stop at Newcastle, some main services stop at Durham but only local trains stop at Chester-le-Street.

To get from Newcastle airport to Durham by public transport use the Metro which takes you to Newcastle Central Station for about 2.40 GBP (trains operate every 20 minutes) and then connect with the mainline train to Durham. A taxi from Newcastle airport to Durham costs about 45 GBP.

Durham Tees Valley Airport has regular flights to and from Alicante, Amsterdam, Dublin, Malaga, Paris, Rome and London.
The railway station at Darlington located approximately 7 miles east of Durham Tees Valley Airport is a short bus or taxi ride. Sky Express bus service is available free for air passengers.
Trains to Durham cost about 3.60 GBP (single) and operate frequently.
Taxis from the airport to Durham are available directly outside the terminal building and cost about 30 GBP.
