Description:

We seek to appoint a permanent lecturer (equivalent of North American assistant professor) within the School of Mathematical Sciences. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing their own research programme, delivering excellence at teaching and carrying out appropriate administrative tasks for the School. 

The School of Mathematical Sciences at Southampton brings together a broad community of researchers in pure mathematics, statistics, operational research, applied mathematics and theoretical physics. The School participates in four university interdisciplinary research centres: the Centre for Operational Research, Management Science and Information Systems (CORMSIS); Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute (S3RI); the Centre for Geometry, Topology and Applications (CGTA), and the Southampton Theory Astronomy and Gravity centre (STAG). The University of Southampton is a member of the national Alan Turing Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. 

You should have a track record of excellent research with interests that enhance and complement our existing strengths. You should be able to deliver high quality teaching on a range of topics within our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The School teaches mathematical, statistical and computational methods to undergraduates and postgraduates on programmes across the university and you should be able to contribute to this teaching portfolio. 

The School provides a friendly and supportive environment for lecturers, with in house staff development programmes for your teaching and research, and mentoring available from senior colleagues.
