Directions from Durham Train Station: Lumley Castle is approx 15km from Durham train station, the most convenient way of traveling is by taxi, obtainable from the taxi rank just outside the platform.
Directions by car: A1(M) junction 63. Take the turn off for Chester le Street and follow signs for Riverside. You will then pick up signs for Lumley Castle.

    Newcastle Airport is situated approximately 8 miles north west of Newcastle City Centre. To get from Newcastle airport to Durham by public transport use the Metro which takes you to Newcastle Central Station for about 2.40 GBP (trains operate every 20 minutes) and then connect with the mainline train to Durham.
    A taxi from Newcastle airport to Durham costs about 45 GBP.

  • Durham Tees Valley Airport has regular flights to and from Alicante, Amsterdam, Dublin, Malaga, Paris, Rome and London.
    The railway station at Darlington located approximately 7 miles east of Durham Tees Valley Airport is a short bus or taxi ride. Sky Express bus service is available free for air passengers.
    Trains to Durham cost about 3.60 GBP and operate frequently.

    Taxis from the airport to Durham are available directly outside the terminal building and cost about 30 GBP.

    Once at Heathrow take london Underground from Heathrow Airport to Kings Cross (approx 50mins) OR

    Take Heathrow express train to London Paddington, and Paddington to Kings cross via underground (approx 30mins)

    followed by Direct train from London Kings Cross station to Durham (approx 3hours)
