We invite applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology (TPPC) Group of the Department of Physics at King's College London. The Research Associate will undertake research at the intersection between Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology in the framework of the Atom Interferometer Observatory and Network (AION) Collaboration (website, paper) on topics such as ultralight dark matter, gravitational waves and probes of fundamental physics.
The position will start on 1 October 2021 and the Research Associate will be expected to carry out research in Theoretical Physics that has significant levels of originality, innovation and depth. They will be expected to participate in the activities of the TPPC Group and the AION Collaboration, and to undertake other duties as required by the Principal Investigator.
TPPC group members work on particle physics beyond the Standard Model, particle astrophysics, gravitational physics and applications of theoretical physics. The Research Associate will be expected to work primarily with members of the TPPC Group that are also members of the AION Collaboration: John Ellis (PI), Diego Blas and Christopher McCabe. We also encourage interactions with other senior members of the TPPC group, including Bobby Acharya, Jean Alexandre, Malcolm Fairbairn, Eugene Lim, David Marsh, Nick Mavromatos, Mairi Sakellariadou, Sarben Sarkar.
• The applicant should have a PhD degree in Theoretical Physics
• Have a track record of high-quality research in Theoretical Physics that demonstrates significant levels of originality, innovation and depth
• Have an excellent knowledge of physics at the intersection of Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology
• Willingness to contribute to the activities of the AION Collaboration
• Willingness to contribute in Theoretical Physics seminars and other related activities
• Good interpersonal and team working skills
