100th IPPP Workshop! - ATM 2007
December 17, 2007;
More than 200 physicists gathered in Durham for the Annual Theory Meeting to discuss the latest developments in theoretical particle physicists. The scientific programme covered the latest developments in string theory, the AdS-QCD gauge/string duality and the description of the quark-gluon plasma, confinement, new results from lattice gauge theory, neutrino physics and flavour physics, accompanied by a very entertaining review of the current status of cosmology by Rocky Kolb (pictured). Ian Hinchliffe gave an inspirational talk about the progress towards the new era of experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (CERN) which is scheduled to commence operation in 2008. This year, Collingwood College provided the accommodation and the lectures took place in the brand new (but absolutely freezing) Wolfendale Lecture Theatre, Calman Learning Centre on the University's Science Site. It was the 100th workshop supported by the Institute for Particle Physics Phenomenology since its formation in 2000!
