Research Associates: New Round of Applications Ref: 1244

Applications are invited for posts at the postdoctoral level to start in October 2012. These are two-year Postdoctoral Research Associate positions funded by the STFC and by Durham University. The successful applicants will have excellent research records in any area of particle physics phenomenology. They will be able to work independently and with other members of the IPPP and will have an important role to play in the maintaining of the Institute as a world-class research centre and a key facility for the UK particle physics community. They will also have a commitment to teaching and will take part in the Departments undergraduate teaching programme at a level of two hours per week during term time.

The appointments will be for a period of two years with possible extension for a further year. The post is at grade 7, with an initial salary in the range £29,972 - £35,788.

Closing date 7 December 2011

Applicants are formally required to apply through the university's on-line application system (reference 1244).

To expedite consideration by IPPP, candidates are requested to arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent by email to IPPP Director via L.A.Wilkinson@durham.ac.uk.

Lecturer - 2 posts Ref: 0973

Applications are invited for two Lecturer posts within the Department of Physics, in association with the Institute for Particle Physics Phenomenology (IPPP).

The postholder will have expertise in particle physics phenomenology including one or more of the following areas: beyond the standard model physics, electroweak and Higgs physics, flavour physics, model building, Monte Carlo simulations, neutrino physics, particle astrophysics and strong interactions. Applications from candidates with a strong record of engagement with experimental groups are encouraged. They will be expected to make a substantial contribution to the research activities of the IPPP and to undertake teaching and administrative duties as assigned by the Board of Studies of Physics.

The post is at grade 8 with an initial salary in the range £36862 - £44,016.

Closing date 7 October 2011

Applicants are formally required to apply through Durham University on-line application system (reference 0971). To expedite consideration by IPPP, candidates are also requested to arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent by email to IPPP Director valya.khoze@durham.ac.uk.
