I spent my time at the IPPP with the IT staff. During my stay I helped re-develop the Centre for Particle Theory (CPT) website and developed a benchmarking program to equip the IT department with the information they needed to upgrade their computers effectively. The program I developed was also run at multiple HEP institutions across the country...

I spent my time largely comparing data produced by the SHERPA simulation to experimental results, this involved getting and editing experimental data published on the HEP online database and editing this to be in a suitable format to compare with the predictions od SHERPA. As a result of this I learned a lot of LINUX based computing which was essential for the task. During my time I also acquired some knowledge of the physics behind what I was doing which was vey interesting...

I spent nine weeks working at the IPPP through Harvard University's Center for European Studies. My task was to develop user tutorials for the SHERPA event generator. At the beginning of the summer, I familiarized myself with SHERPA by running simulations of a number of processes. Afterwards, I worked through an existing tutorial, updating the results along the way. By the end of the summer, I had developed, executed, and written up my own tutorial, which will be posted on the SHERPA website.
Here's the Sherpa tutorial on anomalous gauge couplings at the Tevatron that Andrea has prepared.
